***The Three Tomatoes....We loved this book and give it our highest rating...a must read. Great story, well crafted, suspenseful, and we didn't see the ending coming. This week's questions:
1. How do you rate the booki?
2. At the very start of The Lace Reader, Towner Whitney, the protagonist, tells the reader that she's a liar and that she's crazy. By the end of the book do you agree with her?

No, she wasn't either. She was basically traumatized and the only way she was able to cope was because the memories were hidden deep down. This was such a great book -- great story, well written, with an ending I didn't see coming.
Great surprise ending. Once it is revealed earlier events that didn't ring true come to mind. However, I must say that she had to be a little crazy to have a twin that died at birth have such an effect on her. Please. She didn't know her twin as a person. She created an imaginary sister that caused her to act out and blame her -- drugs, sex, attempted suicide. If that's not crazy, what is? But it made for a good story with a great rug pull. So I give it two thumbs up and liken it to Ann Rice's Witches series. High praise.
Are those in denial "liars?" How much are they truly aware of? How much are they consiously pushing out of their minds? And, how much are they earnestly unaware of? Even in the worst situations, somewhere deep inside "lies the truth."
Crazy? I don't think so.
Interesting to know.
